Blackbirds Fall Dead Again on New Years’ Eve

Comments Off

“Thousands of dead blackbirds rained down on a town in central Arkansas last New Year’s Eve after revelers set off fireworks that spooked them from their roost, and officials were reporting a similar occurrence Saturday as 2012 approached. Police in Beebe said dozens of blackbirds had fallen dead, prompting officers to ban residents from shooting fireworks Saturday night. It wasn’t immediately clear if fireworks were again to blame, but authorities weren’t taking a chance. Officer John Weeks said the first reports of “birds on the streets” came around 7 p.m. as residents celebrated the year’s end with fireworks in their neighborhoods. “We started shutting down fireworks,” he said. “We’re working on cleaning up the birds now.” He said police were working with animal control workers and others to remove the birds and determine a death count…”

“The Vatican called on Monday for the establishment of a “global public authority” and a “central world bank” to rule over financial institutions that have become outdated and often ineffective in dealing fairly with crises. The document from the Vatican’s Justice and Peace department should please the “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrators and similar movements around the world who have protested against the economic downturn…”

“Electronic skin tattoo has medical, gaming, spy uses…A hair-thin electronic patch that adheres to the skin like a temporary tattoo could transform medical sensing, computer gaming and even spy operations, according to a US study published Thursday. The micro-electronics technology, called an epidermal electronic system (EES), was developed by an international team of researchers from the United States, China and Singapore, and is described in the journal Science.

“It’s a technology that blurs the distinction between electronics and biology,” said co-author John Rogers, a professor in materials science and engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

First of all, anyone who teaches that the Lord will delay His coming is an evil servant (Mt. 24). The Lord may come at any moment. While we are certainly in the last days, no one knows the day or hour of the Lord’s return.

On one side are devil-inspired men like Camping (whether he is sincere or not), who the world loves to give publicity. On the other side are the scsorners that the Bible teaches will arise in the last days that will mock the coming of the Lord, based on numerous failed predictions.

“Texas is not alone, as wildfires are burning in large swaths of the Southwest and Midwest, fanned in part by dry, warm and windy conditions. The National Weather Service has issued “red flag warnings” through Sunday evening — indicative of what it calls “critical fire weather conditions” — in New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin on Sunday extended a state of emergency for seven counties…In Texas, the fear is that relentless heavy winds and dry weather could spawn a rash of wildfires similar to those that swept across the southern plains states on April 9, 2009. Those fires scorched 147,924 acres, destroyed 111 homes and killed four people, the Texas Forest Service stated on its website…”

Residents of Miami-Dade County, Florida, beware: Big Brother may soon be watching you — even inside your house.

The Miami-Dade Police Department has purchased an aerial drone, the Honeywell T-Hawk, that will allow the department to “track suspects, sweep past houses, and peep through windows,” according to the Miami New Times. The drone, similar to those used by the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan, will be equipped with cameras to spy wherever and whenever the cops choose to deploy it. Weighing in at 20 pounds, the drone can fly for 40 minutes at a time, climb as high as 10,500 feet, and cruise at 46 miles per hour.
