Trumping Russia

With the US presidential election just over 4 months away, in recent days campaigns on both sides has been expressing their views over Russia in light of the recent hacking allegations.

In a recent survey it was found that 28% of Russians believe that a Trump presidency would be better for bilateral relations than a Clinton one. Felix Kolsky an ordinary Russian citizen wrote to Mr Trump offering him the entirety of his life savings in a appreciative letter towards Mr Trump’s life and campaign. No such letter has been sent to Mrs Clinton, with mere 9% of Russians preferred the Democratic front-runner Mrs Clinton. Moreover Putin in recent comments told a news reporter when asked about Mr Trump:

“He is a very colourful and talented man, no doubt about that”

Trump has reciprocated positive comments towards Mr Putin stating that:

“If he were grading Vladimir Putin as a leader, he’d give him an A.”

No such positive comments have been made by Moscow towards Mrs Clinton and in her campaign for the US presidency.

This figure of speech along with additional favourable comments made by Mr Putin towards Donald Trump has unveiled Russia’s view on who it prefers in the race up to election day. In Russian Media Hillary Clinton has been viewed as one favourable of militarism and one not looking to actively improve relations with Russia. Her comments made after the death of Leader Muammar Qaddafi have been drawn upon to back a conjured up image of a military focused leader.

“We came, we saw, he died”

This is in stark contract to the views transcending from China, the Chinese government has not publicly stated their preference of presidential candidates. In addition to this the Chinese people are not united over one candidate. Chinese nationals have been shocked by Mr Trump’s racist remarks, white supremacist attitude and simplest views on trade deals. With regards to Mrs Clinton, Wang Guan (chief political correspondent for CCTV in America) remarked that Chinese people simply don't like her, coupled with here perceived tough stance on China and issues surrounding the South China Sea.

Although the world will voice their views on the campaign in an attempt to alter peoples voting decision, when push comes to shove it will ultimately come down to the American people on the 8th November who will go to the polls and elect their new President.
